Board Games

On January 15, we had a fun lesson that used chess as a means of knowing and using different pathways.  In chess, each piece has a different pathway that they take.  Each student picked a chess piece and used that pathway to move around the classroom while challenging their brains at the same time to dance with different energy qualities or with different body parts.  It was an opposite game of chess where they used their designated pathways to not crash into each other, but to maneuver around each other in whatever way they could.  In a small classroom, it was quite a feat, but they did it!  It was made all the more fun when they performed their dances in which they picked a pathway and used that pathway as individuals and as a group.  It was really fun day to play "chess."
