On November 12, we explored mirroring and flocking (see lesson plans tab). We started out with just me dancing on one side of the room. As the students came in, they started mirroring my movements. After we were all on the same page, I turned around to do flocking with them. We then talked about the differences between mirroring and flocking and had the dancers experiment with mirroring with a partner. Finally, groups groups created their own dances in which they had a beginning shape, a flocking section, a mirroring section, and an ending shape. Their dances were very fun and had a lot of variety to them. Even Miss Black was in one of the groups! I was most proud of their focus and dedication to the movements that they had choreographed.
