Native Peoples

On November 5th, we learned about some about Native Peoples and the way that they would dance (see lesson plans tab).  We learned about some of their basic movements, and we also learned about how they would perform these different movements in different areas designated on the ground.  We matched different movements with different parts of their culture and beliefs.  We applied their values to our own persona dancing aesthetic and created our own dances.  It was great to both learn about the Native Americans and also to apply their dancing techniques to our own culture and choreography





Here are some of the shapes that they picked to represent the different beliefs.  Notice how extended their arms are and notice how focused their faces are.




Here is some of the choreography that they came up with.  Notice the focus of some of the dancers, and the bravery of some of the others to step outside of their comfort zone.
