Animal Adaptation

On October 27, we did a lesson on animal habitats and the adaptations that they need for those different habitats (see lesson plans tab).  We really had to focus on noticing the specifics about the animal that made it special rather than just being an animal.  One of their favorites was the coral snake and king scarlet snake.  They loved the mirroring activity that we did copycatting each other's movement.  They also loved using their large eyes in our darkened classroom and listening skills to swoop down onto the ground, make a shape, and capture their prey like owls do.  Overall, it was a super fun lesson, and I loved how well all the students recalled the adaptations when I assessed them at the end.

We practiced using long movements like giraffes.
